E31 – Family KITAS

Family KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) is a visa in Indonesia issued to family members (spouse or children) of foreign nationals holding a valid KITAS or KITAP. This was only available for the spouses and children (aged 17 or under) of KITAS or KITAP holders. Sometimes, the Family KITAS is also called a ‘Dependent KITAS,’ meaning that this type of KITAS is not a working visa and can only be used to join the main holder as a family member. Family KITAS can be issued for 1 or 2 years validity.

FYI (!) For 5 years, issued only to parents, spouse and children of Second Home KITAS or KITAP holder.

Visa Classifications

On October the 23rd 2023, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights announced a new classification system for visa names. In the past Family KITAS was issued with the index C317, but following the latest visa classification, the visa index will depend on which family member is being applied for the KITAS.

E31A - Spouse of Indonesia Citizen

With this visa you can

  • Carry out employment-related activities or attending education, as long as it has been reported to Immigration (using the multiple activity reporting process).
  • Travel to and from Indonesia as many times you want.
  • Conducting activities related to tourism, and visiting friends or family

With this visa you can

  • Live in Indonesia.
  • Travel to and from Indonesia as many times you want.

With this visa you can

  • Live and study in Indonesia.
  • Travel to and from Indonesia as many times as you want.

Document Requirements

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months.
  • Proof of living expenses of at least US$2000 (two thousand American dollars) or equivalent.
  • Recent photograph.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Application from husband or wife (Indonesian citizen).
  • Evidence that the foreigner has lawfully married such as:
  1. If the marriage is conducted outside the Indonesian Territory:
    proof of reporting or regisration at the Indonesian Mission or at the authorized agency in Indonesia, and a marriage certificate that has been translated into Bahasa Indonesia by a sworn translator except written in English; or
  2. If the marriage is conducted in the Indonesian Territory:
    marriage book or marriage certificate issued by an authorized ministry or institution.
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months.
  • Proof of living expenses of at least US$2000 (two thousand American dollars) or equivalent.
  • Recent photograph.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Proof of guarantee from the Guarantor or a statement of commitment from the husband or wife
  • Marriage certificate or marriage book that has been translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator except those that have been written in English
  • A valid Limited Stay Permit/Permanent Stay Permit or Limited Stay Visa of the husband or wife.
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months.
  • Proof of living expenses of at least US$2000 (two thousand American dollars) or equivalent.
  • Recent photograph.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Proof of guarantee from the Guarantor or statement of commitment of his/her parents
  • Marriage certificate or marriage book that has been translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator except those that have been written in English
  • Birth certificate that has been translated into Indonesian by a sworn translator, except it is written in English
  • Parents' valid Limited Stay Permit/Permanent Stay Permit or Limited Stay Visa.

Important Notes

  • Be staying in Indonesia over the period of your stay permit
  • You are prohibited from selling goods or services.
  • You are prohibited from receiving rewards or wages from individuals or companies in Indonesia.
  • This visa must be used to enter Indonesia within a maximum of 90 days from the date of issue.
  • Be financially sufficient during your stay in Indonesia and comply with all visa conditions and Indonesia laws.
