E23 – Working KITAS

Working KITAS allows foreign nationals to work legally for an Indonesian company. Sponsored by an Indonesian entity, it grants temporary residency along with work permissions tied to the specific employer and role. The role and specific duties must be in accordance with those designated by the Labour Department. It is valid for, and permits a continuous stay of up to 2 years.

FYI (!) A work permit is the sole legal document that allows foreigner to work and obtain income in the territory of Indonesia.

Document Requirements

  • Valid Nationality Passport at least 6 (six) months.
  • Proof of living expenses of at least US$ 2,000 (two thousand US Dollars) or equivalent.
  • Latest color photograph.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Travel Itinerary.
  • Statement of commitment that must be accomplished within 90 days after the date of arrival

Important Notes

  • Staying in Indonesia over the period of your stay permit, engaging in prohibited activities, not complying with visa conditions, and/or not complying with Indonesian laws may result in you paying fines, being deported, and/or other legal charges.
  • Doing work that is not suitable with the stay permit.
  • Making sales of goods or services, unless required in the employment.
  • Have sufficient living expenses while in Indonesia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can. You can apply for you working permit before you enter the country and we can send you your E-Visa via email before you arrive in Indonesia! For your permit to be official you will need to visit the Immigration Office in Indonesia for your biometric session.
Unfortunately, you cannot continue your current KITAS. You will need to obtain an EPO (Exit Permit Only) which will terminate your current working visa and you will then need to start your new visa with your new company.
To terminate your KITAS you must apply for an EPO (Exit Permit Only), whereby your work permit will be terminated. The EPO is very quick and generally takes a few days. Once your EPO stamp is issued, you will need to leave the country within 7 days. If you have already left Indonesia, you will need to apply for a ERP (Exit Re-entry Permit).
If you overstay your visa you may be subjected to daily fines or even deportation. We cannot stress enough the importance of keeping your visa up to date.
